Israel puts on a show for the world’s media by reminding them over and over again how they tell Palestinian civilians to “evacuate” (which is an insult in itself since they’re not allowed to leave Gaza due to the illegal blockade), but the reality on the ground is that they tell Palestinians ‘we will kill you no matter where you go - you are our targets’ by bombing all the places they’re taking shelter in - ambulances, hospitals and UN schools.
So it happened that we were driving passed the little city of El Jem when the Maghrib Adhan went on. We had some dates in the car and tried to look for a place to eat but of course everywhere was closed because people were at home breaking their fasts with their families. We asked everywhere but the only place that offered food was the one where they were having an Iftar for free.
We were hesitant but went to ask if we could buy food from there since we were able and willing to pay. They were really happy to have us and accepted no money for the meal. This really touched me.
There’s a great Hasanat in feeding a fasting person in Ramadan, no matter whether poor or rich. This reminded me again of the beautiful spirit of this Holy month. A month that is almost over.
Let’s try to make most of what’s left and spread peace and brotherhood amongst all people.
We all need to start thinking about what kind of world we live in. It’s the year 2014 and we’re not praying to save lives from a natural catastrophe or from an accident. We are witnessing people killing people, justifying it, and enjoying it.
Speechless ! ya allah
